Junior Star Party
Led by High School Student Daniel Adibi
Kids, Preteens, and Teens, bring yourself and your parents to the special junior star party at Valley Forge on August 2 beginning at 8pm (backup date August 3). There will be telescopes set up at kid-level, including a telescope you can operate yourself! This is happening at the same time as the regular monthly public star party at Valley Forge. Look for the DVAA flag to locate the spot! Register here so you will receive weather-related updates.
Star Parties are a public service of the DVAA and are FREE!!
If you'd like to be notified about weather-related changes, register for the event with your name and email. Also include your cell phone number if you'd like to receive a text. For safety reasons, pets are not allowed on the observing field.
Model Airplane Field
Easy Directions From Rt. 202:
- Rt. 252 North from Rt. 202 at Devon exit - go exactly one mile
- Make sharp left onto dirt/stone road (just after PA Turnpike overpass)
- Look for astronomers setting up on grass. Park on the dirt/stone road only; please don't park in the grass.
Easy Directions From Rt. 23/Rt. 422:
- Follow Rt 23 through the park.
- Make a left turn at the traffic light on Rt 252 South.
- Follow Rt. 252 through the park to the field.
- Turn right on gravel road just before the bridge over the PA turnpike.
- If you pass over PA Turnpike, turn around!
- Look for astronomers setting up on grass. Park on the dirt/stone road only. Please don't park on the grass.
Comfort, Safety and Policy:
- All persons must be off park grounds by 11PM; no exceptions!!
- Novice stargazers are often surprised at how cold they can get while observing.
- For your own comfort and enjoyment, please remember to dress warmly!
- The star party will NOT held if there are clouds, rain, etc.
- Should the sky look iffy be sure to check the DVAA website for updates before heading out to the park. If you have registered for the event and provided your email and/or cell phone, you will receive an update via email or text the day of the event.
- For safety reasons, pets are not allowed on the observing field.
- Our park permit only allows us to hold star parties after the Model Airplane Club has quit the field; after sunset. For your safety, please do not enter the field if model airplanes are flying!
