Barnard's loop
Author Last Post
Thanks Lou! This was one of my most challenging targets to date. I was unable to get the loop to appear it with any of my other lenses. It looks like the CLS-CCD filter and the fast aperture really helped here.

Wow Hari! I love how you framed up this part of the sky - it happens to be me favorite - signals the change to summer.

Well done!

Clear skies,

-Lou

I've always been fascinated by Barnard's loop, but I have been struggling for several weeks to get anything. I finally managed to get part of the loop using the correct lens and filter.

This is the processed image by stacking 13 subs at 60 seconds each (cropped)

Details as follows:

Taken April 7th in Willistown Twp

Camera: Canon EOS Rebel T6

Tracker: Move Shoot Move

Lens: Rokinon 16mm wide-angle lens

Filter: Astronomik CLS-CCD filter

ISO 800 at f/1.6

Stacked with sequator without darks, bias or flats

I expect the image would be much better with at least an hour of subs -> that is the plan for winter 2021-22 :)
