The DVAA Astrophotography Workshop is free for members to discuss and share techniques and images. The date generally falls on the Wednesday before a General Meeting. This workshop will start off with a "How to session on astrophotography using just basic equipment, a DSLR/Mirrorless camera and tripod." Our guest speaker for this event will feature Andrew Hitchner. He will discuss the basic concepts that every astrophotographer needs to know to start this hobby and hit the ground running. Andrew will demonstrate some of the simple and inexpensive techniques needed to create spectacular images, using just a DSLR/Mirrorless camera and tripod. He will also discuss how to use various tools/apps and free software available on the internet. You won't need a Photoshop subscription or expensive software to create great images using the methods we will discuss. Also, no telescope is required. Yes, you read that correctly, you do not need to buy any expensive gear to create amazing images of the Milky Way. A laptop can be very helpful but is not required. Beginners are encouraged to join early in the evening for introductions and Q&A. We are always looking for speakers to present for our workshops. If you have a specific topic related to astrophotography that you would like to share with the group and would like to present during a future workshop, or if you have questions about a specific topic or aspect of astrophotography and would like us would like us to present during one of our workshops, please send us an email with your request at astroimagers@dvaa.org.
