Open to all DVAA members and the public. Picnic with astronomy workshops. New DVAA members are especially encouraged to attend. Registration is recommended, so we know how much food to order.
Picnic beginning at 5:00pm. There will be two 30-minute workshop sessions (five topics to choose from), Session I at 5:45-6:15pm, and Session II at 6:30-7pm. Food and workshops will happen rain or shine, under the pavilion. Door prizes awarded 7pm.
Workshop topics (optional; you may sign up for as many as two):
· All about eyepieces and filters
· How to plan an observing or imaging session
· Getting started in astrophotography
· Ways to upgrade your existing telescope
· What to look for in the sky after you have observed moon and planets
Weather permitting, observing on the field adjacent to the pavilion will take place 7:30-10:00pm. If you would like some personalized help with your telescope, bring it to the event and there will be experienced members who can help you observe successfully.
