The address of the Refuge is 8601 Lindbergh Blvd., Philadelphia, PA 19153.   We will be setting up (before 7pm) at the Fishing Area (same spot as was used for the Philadelphia Science Festival Citywide Star Party).  Once inside the Refuge, drive down the road past the canoe/kayak launch and toward the fishing area.  It’s a gravel road; we can park on the side of this road and set up our scopes on the gravel (see map attached).    There is a good view in all directions with the exception of one major tree.   It is very close to the airport but by report it’s surprisingly dark.

This is a well-planned and publicized event, and based upon attendance at previous events we should expect a crowd of around 150.    The public event will start at 6:30 with a guided nocturnal animal walk and a presentation by the Philadelphia Zoo featuring how celestial navigation influences bird migrations.   Star gazing will start whenever we can locate a planet or two (sunset at 7:05pm).
