An important DVAA Outreach Event, the Radnor Fall Harvest & Great Pumpkin Patch, is coming up and the DVAA has once again been invited to set up for solar observing.  DVAA participation at this event complements Radnor's generous permission to meet without charge at the Radnor Township Building.  It would not be too much to say that our relationship with Radnor in part depends on this.

In past years, Al Lamperti and Janet Rush have brought solar equipment to the event, but neither is available this year.  You are invited to participate in this solar event.  I'll be leading the event and bringing my scope with white light solar filter.  Hydrogen Alpha equipment would be welcome, and we may even have the use of the DVAA's solar scope!

While there isn't much solar activity to show, we've handled this in the past (beginning in 2015) by showing visitors how to safely observe the sun, and showing graphs and pictures of sunspots and solar prominences to supplement views through telescopes of a quiet sun.  Even without many sunspots, visitors have been appreciative and we've had fun too.  Even if you don’t have a solar filter, you can help.

The event runs from 1 PM to 4 PM but the township has asked us to arrive at 11 AM with other vendors and exhibitors to avoid traffic backups.  You can arrive after 11 AM, but you'll have traffic delays.

For 2019, we have a much better observing location than in past years.  This is on the main field marked with "DVAA" on the attached image.  You'll enter at the normal park entrance on Willows Road and be directed across the grassy field to the DVAA observing location where we can park right next to our equipment.  The Willows Park is only a 5-minute drive from the Radnor Township Building where DVAA Monthly Meetings are held.

Please let me know if you'd like to participate in this event, and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Looking forward to it,
